A fantastic single crystal of Elbaite Tourmaline from the famed Himalaya Mine, Gem Hill, Mesa Grande Mining District, San Diego County, California, USA.
The crystal measures 2.2cm and displays an intricating zoning consisting of a green cap that shifts to blue. Beneath that, peach hues can be seen that shift to a saturated yellow when backlit down the C-Axis of the crystal. This colour finally gives way to the classic 'pink lemonade' Elbaite is known for. The striated crystal faces are lustrous and exhibit a mild chatoyancy & the 'cap' is glassy in comparison. There is a natural notch within the termination due to the growth contact with another crystal within the pocket it came from.
The specimen comes glued to an acrylic display base but can be easily removed if required.
