A rare mineral specimen of crystallised Orpiment from Cut 62, Mega Pit, Twin Creeks Mine, Potosi Mining District, Osgood Mountains, Humboldt County, Nevada, USA.
The specimen features a clustered mass of interlocking, golden orange lustrous, translucent crystals that are well-terminated. A small amount of contrasting black matrix is present. The 1990's find, of which this specimen hails from, produced the finest Orpiment crystals ever discovered in the USA, and some of the finest ever discovered in the world. The specimen has some rubbing along the edges but overall, is a great example from this species-important locality.
